Aktobe

Hi everybody! My name is Gulnaz. I am from nice and beautiful city Aktobe. I graduated from Kazakh National Technical University in Almaty 2007. My specialty there was ‘’Reservoir Engineering”.

In January 2010 I joined Atyrau training centre as Production technician trainee.  I started my English class in "Intermediate A” group with instructor Tatyana. It was a great time of interesting activities, games, discussions, learning a lot of idioms which I sometimes use in conversation. Thanks to ATC I met here a lot of new friends, improved my English, learnt how to play "Mafia "game in lunch time. From August I have started my technical training in Process Operating Group and we are trained by very experienced instructors who prepare us to be good operators=))))) I hope in future we will make significant contribution for NCPOC company.

Now I’d like to give some information about my city.

Aktobe  formerly known as Aktyubinsk  is a city on the Ilek River in Kazakhstan. With a population of 277,700, it is the capital of Aktobe Province

The name "Aktobe" comes from Kazakh "ақ" (white) and "төбе" (hill); the name is a reference to the heights on which the original 19th century settlement was located.

The Russian city of Orenburg is located some 200 km to the northwest, while the Russian city of Orsk is about 150 to the northeast.20

If you have chance to visit our city you can find a lot of sights: there are two theaters in Aktobe, as well as one Children's Palace theater, two museums: the Province Museum, dedicated to the natural and human history of Aktobe province, and the Aliya Moldagulova museum, also a geological exhibition in the city, two Russian Orthodox churches, three mosques, with the third mosque completed in 2006, as well as a Catholic and a Pentecostal church. A large grand and beautiful Nur-Gasyr mosque was opened by our President Nazarbayev in November 2009.

There are a large number of outdoor bazaars and indoor shopping centers located across the city. Most unusually, a major indoor shopping center shares space with the Nurdaulet mosque in the city Center. Recently Mega Aktobe mall centre was built for citizens.
